Genesis 18:20-22

²⁰ Then the Lord said, “·I have heard many complaints [^LThe outcry is great] against the people of Sodom and Gomorrah [14:2]. ·They are very evil [^LTheir sin is very great/heavy]. ²¹ I will go down and see if they ·are as bad as I have heard [^Lhave done according to the outcry which has come to me]. If not, I will know.”

²² So the men turned and went toward Sodom, but Abraham stood there before the Lord.
